Dubrovnik 2011

ESConet has been arranging workshops in science communication in Dubrovnik, on Croatia’s Adriatic coast, since 2009. Though Dubrovnik itself is worth a visit due to its beauty, the location was chosen more due to the excellent connections between ESConet and the Centre of Advanced Academic Studies (CAAS) where the workshops are being held.

ESConet offers 5 workshops in Dubrovnik in 2011, three of which are Science Communication I and two are Science Communication II workshops. The workshops do not run parallel to one another, and having taken a SCI workshop is a prerequisite for attending a SCII workshop. *)

The workshops are scheduled in order to allow for participants to sign up for paired workshops, i.e. SCI followed by SCII.

Eligibility

ESConet’s workshops are open to all researchers and scientists regardless of academic background or level of seniority. No previous training in science communication is required for attending the workshops.

Due to the limited number of seats, however, first come will be first served. We have 100 seats available this year, and will, therefore, accept the first 20 applications sent in for each workshop, as long as all prerequisites are met and the applicants follow the correct booking procedure. Once the courses are full, a waiting list will be in place. Cancellations do occur, and when they do the seats will be filled by applicants on the waiting list. If any of the workshops receive less than 12 bookings, they will be subject to cancellation.

The participation of Ph.D. students will not be considered unless they are nominated by their networks/employers, and are clearly involved in Science Communication activities.
